Nutrition Plus seeks to engage Indigenous and other low socio-economic children about healthy nutrition and living. Through collaboration, education and empowerment Nutrition Plus focuses on the need for a greater consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. I am personally motivated by this approach, as I believe healthy living can be achieved through access to education which allows individuals to understand the importance of nutrition. Good health fosters a strong mind and this enables people to seize opportunities and make positive choices in their life.
The Royal Children’s Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust funds research into Cystic Fibrosis, a life threatening genetic disorder that severely affects lung function and digestion. Research projects are based at Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital, one of the worlds leading paediatric teaching hospitals with more than 300 CF patients under its care. Having been personally affected by my cousin being diagnosed with the genetic disorder I believe greater research into treatments needs to be funded. Additionally, I would encourage greater awareness and understanding from the Australian Government and the public into the impact for those diagnosed with a genetic disorder.
